COVID-19 booster injections available for students, faculty and student health services staff
December 7, 2021, 3:00 p.m. CST
Student Health Services (SHS) is now offering COVID-19 booster shots to students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M University, while recently adding more flu shot appointment slots and COVID-19 to adapt to the upcoming holiday season.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded eligibility on November 19 to all adults to receive COVID-19 booster shots. Booster injections should be received after a specific time frame, depending on the vaccine originally received.
- If you have received the Pfizer-BioNTech Where Modern COVID-19 vaccine, you can get a booster at least 6 months later complete your primary COVID-19 vaccination series.
- If you have received the Johnson & Johnson Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, you can get a booster at least 2 months after your shot.
Adults can choose one of the available COVID-19 vaccines as a booster shot. You do not have to choose the vaccine you originally received as a booster vaccine.
Each week SHS may receive a different version of the booster depending on vaccine availability. It is recommended that you receive the available reminder as soon as you can.
Make an appointment to receive a reminder online at https://tx.ag/covidvaccine. If you still need your primary immunization, the same scheduling link can be used to make an appointment. Although appointment windows are limited, SHS will be opening more appointments for vaccination as we receive vaccine deliveries to the clinic. Please check back often if you don’t see an available meeting time.
Items to bring to your appointment:
- TAMU ID
- COVID-19 vaccination form (available online)
- Any information on health insurance (recommended, not compulsory)
- COVID-19 Vaccine Registration Card (not applicable to patients receiving their first dose)
Find updated information on the COVID-19 vaccine online.
Flu cases in the Brazos Valley
As a reminder, cases of influenza have been identified in the Brazos valley. Flu shots are available free to Texas A&M students at Student Health Services. Make an appointment online at https://tx.ag/fluvaccine.
Students are encouraged to bring any information relating to their health insurance to their appointment. For students who do not have health insurance or for expenses that are not covered by insurance, SHS will cover the cost of the influenza vaccine using the funds for seasonal vaccines.
According to the CDC, COVID-19 vaccines (including boosters) and flu shots can be given at the same time. If you have any questions regarding the administration of the vaccine, please speak to your healthcare provider.
