Garett Lake named to Horizon League All-Star Baseball Team
INDIANAPOLIS – Purdue Fort Wayne’s Garett Lake has been selected as one of 14 members of the Horizon League’s All-Academic baseball team, the league announced on Wednesday, June 2.
To be eligible for the Horizon League All-Academic Team, student-athletes must compete in 50 percent of the team’s overall competitions, complete one year at the member school, and spend 24 credit hours at that institution. . Eligible applicants must have completed one academic year before the start of their sports season. Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00.
Lake, who just completed his second season at Purdue Fort Wayne, fourth year of college overall, is majoring in economics. He was a member of the Summit League Academic Honor Roll in 2019-2020 and earned a nod to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll in the fall of 2020. Lake has a GPA of 3.83 .
Lake played 44 games with 43 starts at center field in 2021. He led the Mastodons in OPS (.911), stroke percentage (.503), triples (3), home runs (7), walks (23) and touched by step (8). He also had a perfect pitch percentage with 109 strikeouts and an assist.
