Ilim Yayma Vakfı to honor academic achievement in ceremony
Ilim Yayma VakfÄ± (Knowledge Expansion Foundation) from Turkey will hold its annual awards ceremony, honoring academic achievements in various fields including engineering, natural and health sciences and social sciences.
The award ceremony is expected to take place at DolmabahÃ§e Palace in the BeÅiktaÅ district of Istanbul.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the ceremony, Necmettin Bilal ErdoÄan, chairman of the board, said the foundation spent two years planning the award ceremony and managed to double the number of awards in 2021.
The grand prize of 600,000 TL ($ 49,800) has been announced, while 200,000 TL will be awarded to winners in the fields of engineering, natural sciences and health and social sciences.
ErdoÄan noted that the foundation aims to encourage more young people to pursue careers in academia.
The foundation received 1,111 applications, including 159 from universities, 34 from other institutions, 428 from women and 683 from men.
President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄan is expected to attend the award ceremony.
