Nevis School approves new teachers
Lindsey Iverson and Karly Cobb will teach elementary school, Christopher Boedigheimer will be the new art teacher for grades 7-12, and Catherine Schermeister has been hired as a speech-language pathologist’s assistant. She will work in conjunction with the District Online Speech-Language Pathologist who will be responsible for students’ Individual Education Programs (IEPs) as well as all testing.
The following teachers will be teaching at different times during the summer months, as indicated by their individual contracts: Ashley Anderson, Tiffany Besonen, Katrina Carrier
Aubrey Capecchi, Karly Cobb, Calvin Gunn, McKenzie Harris, Noelle Kuitunen-Johnson, Kristena Richmond and Kaylie Schell.
In another action, the advice:
Approved a one-year probation extension for Ian Johnson, who agreed to actively pursue a license as a special education teacher. Johnson may be granted an ongoing contract for the 2022-2023 school year, provided he continues to show progress towards obtaining this license.
Did not renew the contract with Noelle Kuitunen-Johnson, who has been a K-12 music teacher in the district for two years.
Approved JoAnn Stute to provide extended school year distance education.
Approve a working agreement with Sue Bloomquist to be a Summer Adventures camp paraprofessional and Ethan Klimek to be the summer grounds keeper.
Approved a memorandum of understanding with the Classified Union regarding a change in pay period.
Repealed the district face coverage requirement that was in effect as part of the Safe Learning Plan, effective May 28 at midnight.
The teachers heard will end the school year on June 1 with a teacher training day.
The next school board meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 28 at the media center and on Zoom.
