Odisha council to start new academic session in schools from May 1 with 100% curriculum

The Odisha council will start the new academic session in schools across the state from May 1, the school mass and education department has announced. The council decided to complete 100% of the program this time, unlike the previous year when the program was reduced by 30% due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For the new academic session, classes will take place in the morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. In addition, midday meals will also be provided for students. The summer holidays for schools will start on June 6 and will continue until June 16 for 11 days only. Parents and educators welcomed the move.

Odisha’s Minister of Schools and Mass Education, Samir Ranjan Dash, said that “the new academic session will start on May 1 with a 100% curriculum. We are also considering restoring the single exam format from the next academic year, as well as practical exams for 9th and 10th grades.
The new academic session will probably help to compensate for the loss of studies due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Educator Prabodh Panda said, “To compensate for the loss of education, we need to reduce vacations. It’s a good step for improving education.”
“Education has been badly affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic for the past 2 years. The measures that have been taken by the state government are appreciated, they can help offset the study,” said said the chairman of the State Parents Association, Basudev Bhatt.
The state government has also decided to launch the bridging course for pupils, in which experienced teachers will teach mathematics, English and science.
