Patriot League Announces 2021 Field Hockey Academic Honors (11.3.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania. – US senior forward Aidan Rossman won his second Patriot League varsity athlete of the year in field hockey, in addition to being selected to the Patriot League’s 11-member academy team when the office of the League announced the honors.
Rossman (political science, 3.95 GPA) is the 12th eagle to win the top academic honor in field hockey. She is one of two Patriot League field hockey student-athletes this season to win Academic All-Patriot League honors for the third time, joining Boston University senior forward Casey Thompson ( business administration and management, 3.80 GPA).
US senior forward Josie Formica (US studies, 3.82 GPA), Boston University junior full-back Rachel Borzymowski (biology, 3.94 GPA) and graduate student defenseman / midfielder Lehigh Lenke Havas (Applied Economics, 4.0 GPA graduate / 3.76 undergraduate GPA) all graduated from All League Honors for the second time.
To be eligible for the College Athlete of the Year award and the Academic League of Patriots team, a student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.20 and be a beginner or a key player. in his sport. Freshmen or first year students at their school are not eligible for the honor. These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and in the classroom. The awards are voted on by the Patriot League’s field hockey sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

Aidan Rossman, American, Jr., forward, Beaverdam, Virginia / Patrick Henry
* Rossman is a two-time Patriot League varsity field hockey athlete and three-time Academic All-League, as a political science major with a cumulative GPA of 3.95.
* The 2021 Patriots League second-team winner started each of the Eagles’ 14 games and finished with three goals, including two in the league.
* Rossman is a three-time NFHCA Division I Distinguished Fellow and member of the National Academic Team.
* The Beaverdam, Va. Native has 27 career points on 13 goals and an assist in 57 games played.
Five league winners are part of the academic team
Five of the 11 Academic All-Patriot League winners received All-Patriot League honors, including two top winners, when they were announced earlier this week. Rossman won the Patriots League second team honors. US second-year goaltender Bryn Underwood (business and entertainment, 3.96 GPA), the 2021 Patriot League goalie of the year and a first-team selection, made his first team academy. Havas made his second varsity All-League team after making his fifth All-League team and claiming Defensive Player of the Year honors. Bucknell’s senior defenseman Erin Zielinski (chemical engineering, 3.73 GPA) made it to the academy squad after being named the All-League First Team winner.
Six student-athletes are part of the academic team for the first time
The 2021 Academic League of the Patriots field hockey team has six first-time winners including Underwood, Bucknell sophomore Rachel Apa (innovation and market design, 3.95 GPA), junior Noor Kaur (psychology / literary studies, 3.92 GPA), Lafayette junior Felicitas Hannes (economics, 3.83 GPA) and Alix Talkow (economics / government and law, 3.68 GPA)
Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year
The Patriot League College Athlete of the Year for each sport includes the nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female College Athlete Awards, presented over the summer. A man and a woman are selected for this honor.
