Penn College Approves Tuition, Fees, and Budget for Next Academic Year | Education

Williamsport, Pennsylvania — The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Trustees approved the 2022-2023 academic year budget of $161.5 million along with tuition increases for in-state and out-of-state students. outside at a meeting on June 9, 2022.
- In-state students will see a 1.87% increase in tuition, which is expected to cost an additional $330 per student per year.
- Combined tuition and fees for in-state students will increase to approximately $598 per credit hour for in-state students ($17,940 per year for resident students enrolled in two 15-credit semesters)
- Out-of-state students will see their tuition increase by 2.03% (approximately $510 per year)
- Tuition and fees for out-of-state students will total approximately $856 per credit hour, or $25,680 per year for a student enrolled in two 15-credit semesters.
- Rates for on-campus, college-owned and operated housing will increase by 2%.
- Restaurant service meal plan rates will be increased by 2%.
“As always, our goal in the budget process is to continue to provide the best practical academic programs for students while mitigating, as best we can, the financial impact for them and their families,” said President Davie Jane Gilmour. . “This budget accomplishes that while addressing the unique challenges posed by the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a realistic plan that keeps us financially strong and positions us well for the future.
The total budget represents an increase of 3.22% compared to 2021-22. The operating budget for 2022-2023 is $113.3 million. The Governor’s current budget proposal suggests that Penn College will receive $28.1 million from the state, an increase of 5% over last year.
College administrators expect new student enrollment for fall 2022 to help recover overall attendance. The number of returning students has dropped in recent years, likely due to issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Penn College professors, counselors and librarians, as well as non-teaching employees, will receive a 2% pay raise.
The budget includes voluntary donations of $100,000 to the City of Williamsport and $35,000 to the Williamsport Area School District.
