Tucker Carlson wants cameras in schools to monitor what teachers say to students (video)
Tucker Carlson is concerned that Critical Race Theory, or something he says is “Critical Race Theory,” is apparently sweeping schools across the country and has come up with a radical enough idea to prevent this – cameras in each classroom to monitor what student teachers are saying.
Yes, Tucker, who has repeatedly warned of what he says are threats to free speech of teachers, think teachers should be watched for their speech. He also suggested that there should be some sort of “civilian review board” to “oversee” the work of teachers to ensure that it meets certain standards.
The critical race theory is “poisoned civilization,” Tucker said on Tuesday’s episode of Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight”.
Tucker, perhaps unwittingly, made a good point in his rant that it’s not clear how many K-12 schools are actually trying to implement new teachings modeled on critical theory of the race.
“How widespread is it? Well, we can’t really be sure until we finally have cameras in the classroom as we place them on the police chests; Until we finally have a civilian review board in every city in America to oversee the people who teach your kids to train their minds, ”Tucker said. “And hope we get both very soon.” But until we do, we can’t know exactly how widespread it is. “
Critical race theory was first taught in the 1970s and championed by Columbia University law professor Kimberle Crenshaw. The concept, widely taught in law schools, argues that white supremacy remains a key part of how laws, institutions, and penal systems in the United States were and are developed today. A recent Wall Street Journal explainer noted that critical race theory “rejects the idea that laws are inherently neutral, even if they are sometimes applied unevenly.”
Opponents of the theory generally avoid grappling with this and instead argue that teaching American history in this way is simply a way of making white people feel guilty and claiming it inflames, rather than explaining racism in America. During tonight’s show, Tucker literally called Critical Race Theory “anti-white.”
In May, three states passed bills banning the teaching of principles that could be considered critical race theory, and 13 more states considered banning it.
We would also add that putting big brother-style authoritarianism in classrooms is unlikely to create a positive learning environment. But for now they look like conservative activists try to popularize Tucker’s idea.
