Two JPS schools recognized for their academic success

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Two Jackson Public Schools (JPS) have been recognized for their academic achievement.

According to the district, Forest Hill High School is one of 19 high schools nationwide and the only one in Mississippi State to be recognized as a school of excellence by the American college application campaign (ACAC). The high school has been credited with increasing the number of first-generation college students and students pursuing post-secondary education. The school completed 450 applications.

JSU’s Department of Art and Theater to Host Silent Auction Fundraiser

Each winning school will receive a plaque and be celebrated in virtual ceremonies.

District officials also said the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) recently announced that Murrah High School had received prestigious recognition with the 2021 College Success Award from GreatSchools.org for excelling in preparing students for college. register and succeed in university.

The Mississippi schools recognized for 2021 are among 1,838 high schools in 25 states that have demonstrated a successful track record of graduating students enrolling in a two- or four-year college, being ready for college-level coursework, and persisting through college. in their second year.
